This Centre has been established in December 2000 with a funding of 270,000 Euros from the European Union under its Euro-India Economic Cross Cultural Programme (ECCP) for building expertise in managing and using information and knowledge for enhancing global competitiveness and economic growth across Indian business, industrial and government organisations.
Initially, during 2001-2002, as part of the European Union funding, the focus of CEXIM activity was on diffusion of e-business among the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Consequently an e-business game BizNet was developed by Prof M.P. Jaiswal in collaboration with Prof. Henk Sol of Delft University of Technology, Delft, the Netherlands.
