Center for Supply Chain Management (C-SCM)
 
The Centre for Supply Chain Management (C-SCM) has been set up by the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon , India with support from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The centre has collaborated with national and international organizations to carry out research in order to ascertain the level of effectiveness in implementing and aligning supply chain management strategy with business strategy.

The Vision:

The vision of the centre is to be an excellent source of supply chain expertise and a forum for networking with business communities within various industries.

The Mission:

Our mission is to fulfill our vision by acting as knowledge and information resource through conducting research, through institute industry interaction and by providing training and consultancy services to business community in various aspects of SCM within and across the supply chain constituents.

Activities:

  • Developing partnership with industry engaged in SCM practice.
  • Conducting periodic meetings with businesses to share best practices, identify research topics, and disseminate leading-edge thinking.
  • Developing and delivering executive education in supply chain management to the business community.
  • Organizing conferences / seminars to disseminate research findings.
  • Conducting week-long Executive Development Programmes in SCM, for executives coming across various industries.
  • Engaging doctoral students in SCM related research.
  • Offering elective courses in SCM in various post graduate programmes conducted by MDI including executive MBA programmes.

Achievements:

  • Organized first International Conference on SCM for Global Competitiveness.
  • Organized a National Workshop on Health Sector Goods Logistics for Senior State Procurement Heads and Top Level Government Officers of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Central Medical Stores, Procurement Support Agency, World Bank Task Team Leaders (TTLs), jointly with World Bank and DFID, in close cooperation with the World Health Organization and John Snow Inc. USA.
  • Conducted a project on Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) as strategic partnering: Building win-win relationship between European customers and Indian service providers, funded by EU-India Small Projects Facility Program.
  • Won competitive bidding and implemented Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) projects for various steel plants at Durgapurl, Rourkela and Bhilai, and Chattisgarh (ongoing projects) of the Steel Authority of India Limited.
  • Engaged in a project on Inventory Supply Chain, Ministry of Defence, Government of India (ongoing project).
