Developing Empowered Women Leaders For Strategic Roles
Women leaders enter the business arena possessing certain skills such as sensitive listening, relationship-orientation, empathy, and expressiveness. These are important prerequisites for being effective leaders in strategic roles. The rising women leaders need to feel self-empowered and psychologically empowered so that they empower others in their teams. They need to understand the nuances of power and how the diverse stakeholders need to be managed and balanced.
In a highly competitive and VUCA world, communication is an indispensable attribute of a great leader. Communication competencies add to the credibility and effectiveness of a leader, irrespective of one’s gender. But simply possessing the above-mentioned skills does not necessarily translate into communication competence in a work environment. Therefore, it adds to the importance of having formal training and understanding of communication as a network of various skills and competencies when developing women leaders. Communication competence is primal for women in power to widen their circle of effect and be successful leaders. Communication competence builds into leadership competence.
Empowering women leaders means knowing how to manage emotions in public, expressing less with more. Knowing when to speak and when to walk away are contextual situations which this women leadership training programme will provide. It is important to know and comprehend the shades of power and how work life balance is affected. This would be possible after training and believing in oneself, not walking away from leadership roles but walking into and accepting strategic leadership roles.
