Water Governance and Management

Water is a critical resource characterised by growing demands, competition and contestation. Urbanisation, climate change and land use change are multiplying the threats on water resources. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the fore further the importance of access to safe water and the challenges of limited and uneven access in informal settlements. In this background, it is important to develop an understanding of the governance and public policy challenges around water and the potential of different approaches to addressing them. Different stakeholders need to appreciate these challenges so as to position themselves uniquely in contributing to finding solutions to them.
