Delphique 2020, the 24th National Management Convention of MDI Gurgaon, was held from 11th to 13th December, 2020.

Delphique, the red carpet event of MDI, is an ideal platform for the corporate leaders to assess budding managers and gain from their out of the box and innovative approach to contemporary issues in the business environment. It involves events such as panel discussion, case study competition, business plan competition, Model United Nations and live project presentations. Delphique 2020 was the first ever convention which was held virtually.

The three-day event got under way with Prof. Jyostna Bhatnagar, Dean GP lighting the lamp to mark the beginning of the convention.

The centre stage of the convention had been the moving and thought-provoking session by Mr Harsh Mariwala, Founder and Chairman of Marico Industries. The thought provoking session was on the topic “Why is innovation critical for any business and creating a culture of innovation”. It was closely followed by an insightful session by Mr Gaurav Jain, Senior G Vice President, Motilal Oswal Invest Services on the topic “Managing equity for personal investment”. This marked the end of day 1.

Day 2 of Delphique marked the beginning of various events organized in Delphique. It included the international B-plan completion for entrepreneurs and change masters named Vincenza, the national case study competition for thought leaders and problem solvers named Cerebro and the Model United Nation for spokespersons to coin their opinions and solutions.

Day 2 also saw the beginning of various live project presentations. Every year Delphique partners with leading corporates across India to provide students with hands-on experience of live projects and learning experiences. This year Delphique partnered with companies like DS Group, Udaan, Sungrow, Happ Coach, Pine Labs, Sterlite Tech and many more.

The 3rd and last day of Delphique witnessed the finalists of various events battling out with each other to achieve the winner’s title. The last day was also witnessed by an intriguing, interactive and stimulating panel discussion on the topic “Indian economy and Financial Sector post COVID: steps taken by the Government & way ahead”. The panel was graced by industry elites like Mr. Arun Kumar, Ex-Prof. JNU, Chief Prof Institute of Social sciences; Mr. Gourav Vallabh, Prof. XLRI, National Spokesperson INC; Mr. Gurbachan Singh, Prof. Indian Statistical Institute; and Mr. Rabi Mishra, Former Executive Director RBI; The panel was moderated by Mrs. Mythili Bhusnurmath, Banker and Editor, The Economic Times. The provocative topic on the recent issues gave the audience many insights to go back with thus concluding the three-day national management convention of MDI Gurgaon.


Vincenza 2020 received 300+ business plans from students across premier B-Schools and new start-ups. After careful evaluations, the top 10 teams were selected. These 10 teams were then provided industry professionals from the area of interest of their idea for mentorship for 7 days and then were allowed to present live in front of an esteemed judge panel. The winners receive a very attractive cash prize, goodies, and a 6-12 months’ mentorship period with our prime sponsor. At the end of the mentorship period, these entrepreneurs will be provided with a chance to pitch their refined business plan to Angel investors and venture capitalists for their first round of funding. The winners of the competition were Smit Rambhiya from National Institute of Technology Karnataka and Chinmaya Naik from GHRCE.


Delphique 2020 presented Cerebro 9.0, the National Case Study Competition in association with Conduent on December 12, 2020. Cerebro provides an opportunity to students from B-schools across the country to test their business acumen while working on real life business problems and finding the most viable solutions for the same. Cerebro 9.0 had the opportunity to partner with the American giant Conduent for the case competition. Conduent is an American business process services company. It was formed in 2017 as a divestiture from Xerox. Conduent has a yearly revenue of $4.47 Billion and is considered a global leader in business services, healthcare, HR services, and consumer experience. The company offers digital platforms for businesses and governments. As of 2020, it has 68,000 employees working across 40 countries. The winners of the event were Arjun D from XIMB and Aditi Anand from MDI Gurgaon.

Model United Nations

The 24th edition of Delphique hosted its maiden Model United nations conference, virtually on the 12th and 13th of December,2020. The MDI Gurgaon MUN 2020 remained true to the fabric of the United Nations by creating a forum for dialogue on issues that threaten world peace and security. The United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Human Rights council were the two committees that were simulated. The winners of the event were Rahul Krishna from University of Melbourne and Rohan Nagpal from Amity University. The event was a success that enabled the delegates to look beyond their own borders and understand the limitation to negotiations.

Valedictory Panel Discussion

The event concluded with the valedictory panel discussion which was graced with the presence of eminent personalities of the Indian economics ecosystem, Mr. Rabi Mishra, Former Executive Director, RBI, Prof. Gourav Vallabh, Professor, XLRI and National Spokesperson, Indian National Congress, Mr. Gurbachan Singh, Professor, Indian Statistical Institute, Mr. Arun Kumar, Professor, Institute of Social Sciences and moderated by Ms. Mythili Bhusnurmath, Banker and Editor, The Economic Times. These situational characteristics of Indian Economy give rise to a heated-up topic for The Valedictory Panel Discussion on – “Indian Economy and Financial Sector Post COVID: Steps taken by the government and the way ahead” of Delphique 2020, which was conducted on December 13, 2020. The speakers were critical of the existing measures taken by the government, stating that those measures were extensively focused on the supply-side of the economy, whereas the bigger problem lies on the demand-side. Although, existing policies are helpful to drive demand to a small extent but the aim to increase demand needs to get wider and larger.
