Running Experiments for Development: Doing Research with the State

Experimental research methods help one to estimate the impact of any planned change. Knowledge of the potential effect helps in making decisions regarding the change or change process. In this connection, MDI Gurgaon, as part of its Wisdom Café research seminar series, will hold a talk on the topic “Running Experiments for Development: Doing Research with the State”. Mr. Ketan S. Deshmukh, Research Advisor (Voluntary) for Fair-E and Manager-Design of Emeritus, will talk about a couple of experimental studies undertaken with partnership of state officials. First, he will present a quantitative study to evaluate the impact of the “smart-class” initiative in state-run schools. After presenting the findings of the quantitative study, he will provide a brief insight on the subsequent impact of the study. In the end, the talk will look at a large-scale study to evaluate the use of technology in teacher professional development and its impact.

Prof. Vanita Singh of the Area of Economics and Public Policy, MDI Gurgaon, will moderate the event.
