Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Business Management (PGDM-BM)
The programme is accredited by AMBA, the Association of MBAs (UK). It focuses on developing leaders who will excel in the rapidly changing business environment, become agents of change and be charged with a customer centric orientation.
- In 1987, MDI Gurgaon introduced the country’s first full-time Executive Graduate Programme in Management, known as the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (National Management Programme). The programme has been restructured and is now offered as an 18-month Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Business Management.
- The PGDM-BM shapes visionary leaders for a fast-changing business world, building the skills to drive transformation and attracting talent from diverse industries and global backgrounds.
- Key highlights include half crdit course by International faculty and a three-day Experiential Learning module on Leadership Competency Development.
- Provision for two-weeks International Immersion Module.

Programme Structure/ Term Schedule
- The programme has five terms of course work followed by a dissertation project.
- An academic term is of twelve weeks duration which includes mid-term and end-term examination.
- A participant has to earn a minimum 103.5 credits from 32 courses in which 21 are core courses and 11 are elective courses (3 credits from 29 courses & 1.5 credits from 3 courses) plus 9 credits from dissertation.
- There is a 1.5 credit Experiential Outbound Leadership Training Programme & 1.5 Credit National Immersion Programme.
- Each student has to undergo National Immersion module and experiential learning module on leadership competency development. The expenses for National Immersion module shall be borne by the students on actual basis in addition to the fees.
- The students will also undertake industry live projects, 2 practice-oriented courses & Dissertation Synopsis submission in the month of August 2026.
- The compulsory dissertation / project may be taken up at the workplace and is required to be presented before a panel of experts.
Pedagogy
- The participants get to interact with the industry leaders by way of guest lectures.
- Teaching based on recent research studies and international experience, includes lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, business games, role plays, simulations exercises, structured and unstructured group work and field visits.
- Emphasis on motivating the participants to integrate the concepts, learned across the core curriculum and apply them to their own work experience and contemporary business situations.
Evaluation:
- Participants are evaluated on a continuous basis which includes a capstone dissertation project.
- Course evaluation is in terms of letter grades. Participants are required to achieve a certain minimum cumulative grade point average in each term, as well as a minimum letter grade in each course.
Merit Scholarship:
- The initiative of MDI Gurgaon Merit Scholarship is designed to recognize and reward consistent academic excellence among students enrolled in the PGDM-BM programme.
- Scholarships will be awarded to the top two students securing the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the end of Term 1, 2 and 3.

- Prime Minister’s Gold Medal - awarded for the best overall performance in the programme.
- Finance Minister’s Gold Medal - awarded for the best performance in the Finance elective courses
- The Department of Personnel, Government of India Gold Medal - awarded for the best performance in the Human Resource Management elective courses.
- ITC Gold Medal - awarded for the best performance in the Marketing elective courses.
Alumni Meet & Association
- An Annual Alumni Meet is organized every year where alumni members gather in large numbers and share their experiences.
- The Alumni Association of the Institute act as a platform through which the alumni of the Institute can keep in touch with various activities of their alma mater.
- Also acts as a forum to obtain feedback regarding the educational programmes.
- Every person receiving a degree/diploma of the Institute automatically becomes a life member of the Association; members have the benefit of the use of the Institute library at nominal charges.
Clubs & Committees
Activity Clubs and Committees are an important part of student life which facilitate integrating learning from the class with the application at the workplace. The following clubs, committees and groups are in place from which participants are encouraged to derive maximum value.
Placement Committee
Placement activities are managed by the PGDM-BM Students’ Placement Committee. It is mandatory to attend corporate sessions and all placement-related sessions conducted by the Placement Committee from time to time.
The Placement process is a student-driven activity, primarily managed by the PGDM-BM Students’ Placement Committee, under the supervision of the Chairperson – EGP Placements.
Alumni Relations Committee
The MDI Gurgaon Alumni Relations Committee comprises representatives from the following batches: PGDM, PGDM-HRM, PGDM-IB, PGDM-Business Analytics and PGDM (Business Management).
The committee undertakes the responsibility of initiating, maintaining and fostering communication and engagement with the Alumni of MDI Gurgaon. The Alumni Relations Committee is headed by a student elected as Secretary. The activities are overseen by a faculty Chairperson and Dean/Director, who are also accountable for the required budget and decision-making.
Corporate Communications Committee
Corporate Communications: MDI’s Voice, Bridging Aspirations & Excellence, acting as the pulse of the institute, the PGDM-BM Corporate Communications Committee engages in several activities throughout the year related to coverage of the student as well as faculty activities, events, and stories at MDI Gurgaon. It works towards enhancing the digital presence of the PGDM-BM programme at MDI Gurgaon by managing its social media channels, namely, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
The Corporate Communications Committee acts as a strategic bridge between MDI Gurgaon and its stakeholders, with a core mission to strengthen the visibility, reputation, and engagement of both the institute and the PGDM-BM programme through impactful communication initiatives.
Sports Committee
The PGDM-BM Sports Committee at MDI Gurgaon provides opportunities for students to play, practice, and participate in various sports events. The committee aspires to make each sporting event a holistic approach to building qualities such as sportsmanship, team spirit, and bonding and has put in great effort to deliver these with the ultimate objective to promote the health and physical and mental well-being of the MDI community. They organize various tournaments throughout the year, ranging across all indoor to outdoor sports that send adrenaline rushing through the aspiring leaders of tomorrow. The events help reveal new talent on the campus and inculcate the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and hard work in the students.
Hostel & Mess Committee
The Mess Committee of the PGDM-BM programme is a student-led body committed to ensuring a smooth, comfortable, and enriching campus living experience. As the bridge between the student body and the administration, the Mess Committee plays a crucial role in managing hostel operations, mess services, and student welfare within residential facilities.
With a strong focus on student comfort, health, and engagement, the Mess Committee plays an integral role in shaping a positive and memorable residential experience at MDI Gurgaon.
Cultural Committee
The Cultural Committee at MDI Gurgaon is dedicated to fostering creativity, inclusivity, and cultural vibrancy on campus. It organizes a wide spectrum of events ranging from festivals, talent showcases, and themed evenings to inter-batch competitions, ensuring students experience a rich blend of tradition and modernity. The committee also collaborates with other clubs to host flagship cultural fests, bringing together diverse talents and encouraging holistic development beyond academics. Through its activities, the Cultural Committee creates a dynamic platform for self-expression, collaboration, and community building.
