Prof. Imlak Shaikh is an accomplished academic and researcher in Accounting and Finance, currently serving as Professor at the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, India. He served as the Chairperson of the School of Management of Financial Institutions (SoMFI) at MDI Gurgaon. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, where his doctoral research on implied volatility in the Indian derivatives market earned him the prestigious Ph.D. Thesis Excellence Award at IIT Bombay’s 53rd Convocation. Prof. Shaikh also holds an MBA (Banking & Finance), M.Phil. (Banking), M.Com., and B.Com. with specialization in Statistics, and is a Gold Medalist in M.Com. He has qualified UGC-NET and JRF in both Commerce and Management. With over two decades of teaching and research experience, Prof. Shaikh has taught at premier institutions including BITS Pilani, IIM Kashipur, IIM Nagpur, and IIM Rohtak. His teaching interests span quantitative finance, financial derivatives, applied econometrics, risk management, and accounting. Prof. Shaikh is a highly published scholar and appears in World's Top 2% Scientists published by Stanford University (Elsevier), with an extensive portfolio of research articles in leading ABDC-listed, Scopus- and SSCI-indexed international journals, covering areas such as financial market volatility, policy uncertainty, sustainable finance, ESG, banking performance, cryptocurrencies, and environmental finance. Several of his works have appeared in top-tier journals like Energy Economics, Applied Economics, Journal of Environmental Management, Resources Policy, and North American Journal of Economic and Finance, and Evaluation Review and so on. He has also served as Guest Editor of Special issues, Ph.D. supervisor, and principal investigator in sponsored research projects, and has received institutional recognition for Excellence in Research at MDI Gurgaon. Prof. Shaikh actively contributes to academia through doctoral mentoring, executive education, and policy-relevant research in finance and sustainability.
