Dr. Suwarna is an Assistant Professor at MDI Gurgaon. Prior to joining MDI Gurgaon, she was an Assistant Professor at IIM Sambalpur. She is dedicated operations management researcher with interest in digital transformation of Indian agricultural supply chain. She has been associated with multiple public and private bodies in India and internationally, offering her research and consulting expertise in the areas of quantitative techniques and analysis, application of AI/ML in deriving operational efficiency, sustainability, and technological innovation in emerging markets focusing on the bottom of the pyramid. She was also a consultant at Ministry of Finance (GOI) in the procurement Research Centre of Department of Expenditure (DOE), where she worked towards designing and framing the policies for the sustainable procurement practices in India.

She has publications in the mainstream supply chain journals and has published into ABDC A, B categories. She has also published book chapters and case studies. Her research pipeline consists of ABDC A, A* and FT journals.

Education: Suwarna has done PhD from Indian Institute of Management, Indore specializing in Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques. She holds an MS degree in Computational Finance from Institute of Mathematics and Applications, Bhubaneswar, India.

Research and Academic Interests: operations management, circular economy, AI and ML in supply chain, contract farming, empirical and statistical modelling, decision models, stochastic modelling, green supply chain, sustainability, climate change, Industry 4.0, etc.
